Napoli has scored two goals in the final half hour to clinch its first piece of silverware since the Diego Maradona era after a 2-0 Coppa Italia final over Juventus on Sunday.

Edinson Cavani struck a 63rd-minute penalty, before Marek Hamsik added a second 20 minutes later to help Walter Mazzarri’s side clinch their first trophy since 1990.

The result denied Juventus a dream double after their Scudetto triumph, as well as Alessandro Del Pirlo a perfect farewell.

“It seemed unthinkable to beat Juve,” Mazzarri told reporters. “They hadn’t ever lost this season (in Serie A) and to beat them 2-0 was magnificent work.

“The team has done something extraordinary in the last three years: Cavani, (Ezequiel) Lavezzi, Hamsik are on everyone’s lips, but it’s an entire team that should be acclaimed as one.

“This was the 51st game of the season. Anyone who plays football knows that playing these games at that level is hard. We have paid in the championship for this. You can lose to anyone in our league, and we dropped too many points.”

Napoli has had a tough period in its existence since its last trophy, dropping down the divisions before recently reviving their status. Owner Aurelio Di Laurentiis said the triumph was a sign this club could return to its former glory.

“This was a club that didn’t exist,” said De Laurentiis. “In a few years we’ve brought something home, above all the knowledge that Napoli exists, lives and can be the world champion of the sport.”

LOS ANGELES — No sooner had the Los Angeles Clippers finished one of their most successful seasons Sunday night with a heartbreaking 102-99 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in the second round of the playoffs did the attention in Lob City turn to the future. Namely, how long Blake Griffin and Chris Paul will be a part of it.

Griffin is eligible to sign an extension with the organization this summer or he could become a restricted free agent after next season, Paul’s is under contract only for one more year.

The Clippers say they are confident they’ll be able to retain both players for a long time.

“I feel those things are going to get done,” Clippers president Andy Roeser told ESPNLosAngeles.com. “The important thing is that we have to do other things to improve the team. But I believe we’ll do those things and ultimately I believe those two players (Griffin and Paul) are going to play out their careers here.”

Griffin is eligible to sign a five-year extension on July 1 and the Clippers will absolutely offer it to him. When asked directly about his intentions, Griffin said he hadn’t thought about it just yet.

“I haven’t given it one ounce of thought,” Griffin said. “That’s been the furthest thing from my mind, honestly. I know that’s kind of the popular thing to say, but I haven’t thought about it. I’ll get to that when it comes.”

Paul wasn’t asked directly about his future intentions, but a source close to the situation said he has given the team indications he intends to stay long term.

Still, it is believed that both players are curious to see what the organization will be able to do to bolster the roster this offseason. The team clearly needs help at the shooting guard position and consistent outside shooters who can space the floor.

“(Clippers owner Donald Sterling) has committed unlimited resources to this team,” Clippers general manager Neil Olshey told ESPNLosAngeles.com late Sunday night. “We intend to exhaust all avenues in our quest to build a championship caliber organization.”

Then there is the future of Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro. The team has an option on him for next season. It must decide by June 1st whether to retain him.

“I think coach did an outstanding job,” Paul said of Del Negro. “Also with Neil (Olshey) and them in our front office. Everybody knows what happened in mid-December with the trade going through, picking up Chauncey (Billups) off the waiver wire.

“Then Chauncey going down and all the injuries we had to endure. It’s been a rollercoaster season for us, but I think the way they managed everything was great. Bringing in K-Mart (Kenyon Martin), bringing in Reggie Evans, they did an outstanding job. The season was crazy enough with 66 games, but they helped us get here. Now we have to build from it.”

One player who won’t be going anywhere, at least of his own volition, is guard Mo Williams, who told ESPNLosAngeles.com that he did not intent to opt-out of his $ 8.5 million player option for next season.

“No,” Williams said when asked if he would opt-out this summer. “I can tell you that right now.”

Williams had a solid season (13.2 points, 3.1 assists) despite coming off the bench, and mostly out of position as a shooting guard. Still, he’s part of a glut of point guards on the Clippers roster that could be used to upgrade at other positions via trade.

“This is my first time in this position. I don’t think about it when I’m playing,” Williams said. “I haven’t thought about it. I pay a good man four percent of my money, so he’ll make a good decision for me.”

Whatever the shape the Clippers roster takes over the summer, who returns and who doesn’t, Roeser said the four-game sweep at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs made some things abundantly clear.

“I think one of the interesting things, when you play a team like San Antonio, is that your weaknesses are on display,” Roeser said. “It’s going to give us a lot to think about in the offseason.

“I think we absolutely look at this and say, ‘If we want to get to the next level, there’s more we’re going to have to do.’ But we’re prepared to do those things.”

I’m gonna say Jason Kidd because he’s such a smart player. I’m also gonna say Luke Walton. I’ve heard great things about him. Even though he’s not a good player and is in the NBA because of his father, he is still really smart. He probably knows the triangle offense better than any other coach in the NBA.

LOS ANGELES — Tim Duncan scored 21 points, Tony Parker added 17 and the San Antonio Spurs rallied in the final minutes to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 102-99 on Sunday night, closing out the series 4-0 and advancing to the Western Conference finals.

The Spurs extended their winning streak to 18 games and their playoff record to 8-0, tying the third-best postseason streak in franchise history.

Daniel Green and Gary Neal added 14 points each, and Manu Ginobili and Tiago Splitter had 11 each for the Spurs.

San Antonio could find out as soon as Monday night who it will play next. Oklahoma City leads the Lakers 3-1 in their series, with Game 5 on Monday.

Chris Paul had 23 points and 11 assists, Blake Griffin added 21 points, and Eric Bledsoe had 17 for the Clippers, who blew a six-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Both nursing injuries, Griffin and Paul combined to score 21 of the Clippers’ 28 points in the third quarter when they took their first lead of the game. In the fourth, Bledsoe came up big, scoring 11 in a row, to extend the lead to 90-85 with 5:38 remaining.

After Reggie Evans missed two free throws, Green hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 92.

Duncan’s hook put the Spurs in front 96-94 before Paul tossed up a one-handed shot that rose to the top of the backboard before dropping straight in as he crashed into a baseline photographer. He made the free throw to put the Clippers ahead by one.

Parker scored consecutive baskets and the Spurs regained the lead, 100-97, with 1:47 left.

Paul’s two free throws drew the Clippers within one. After a timeout, Paul drove the basket and lost the ball. He fouled Green, who made the first and missed the second to keep the Spurs ahead 101-99.

Paul then missed another shot, and Mo Williams fouled Parker, who missed the first and made the second with a second left.

DeAndre Jordan added 10 points. Paul had best performance of the series after sub-par efforts in the first two games. He’d been playing with a strained right hip, while Griffin has a sprained right knee, an injured left hip and got stitches for a cut lip in the first half.

Neither team led by more than five points in the third period. Duncan had 10 points for the Spurs. Bledsoe’s putback slam dunk gave the Clippers 75-74 lead going into the fourth.

The Spurs stretched their lead to 12 points with Duncan sitting out the opening 7 minutes of the second quarter.

The Clippers closed on a 14-6 run to trail 51-47 at halftime. Paul got it started with a 19-foot jumper and ended it with a 3-pointer. Early in the spurt, Griffin ran into Ginobili’s shoulder, fell and one of his top teeth went through his lip. He left the court with 2:20 remaining to get two stitches on the inside and outside of his lip.

Los Angeles began the game on a 9-4 run before San Antonio scored 14 unanswered points, reminiscent of its 24-0 third-quarter spurt Saturday that led to the Spurs’ eventual 10-point victory in Game 3.

The Clippers have lost all seven of their playoff series after losing Game 1. … The Spurs had a 40-36 edge on the boards, while the Clippers outscored them in the paint, 56-50.
